Star Paschal has overcome much adversity in her life, including poverty, homelessness, and physical and mental abuse as a child. She works in social justice to make sure no one has to experience the struggles she did. She works with the Auburn Housing Authority as an HCV manager. In 2009, Star was invited by her mentor, Ethel White, to a town hall meeting for the Equal Voice campaign. She spoke out at that meeting, and has been involved in the Equal Voice campaign ever since. Star was a speaker at the Equal Voice for America’s Families platform convening in Birmingham. She has also spoken at the National Press Club in Washington D.C., and her story appeared as part of a series on MSN Money.
